We have integrated some new features into the NavShip app with the sailing update. In the last few weeks we have been able to carry out some tests and have now taken the wind into account even better when calculating the route.
If the “Cruising” option is activated in the settings in the side menu (this is a feature for premium users), the wind is automatically taken into account. Accordingly, you will receive a message and a route that includes the “hard on the wind” course to the destination.
Since we cannot take into account the wind data for every single point on the route (our requests via the weather interface are limited), the wind halfway between the start and destination points is used as a means of calculation. In addition, we display the wind as a clickable symbol in the middle of the route; when you click on it, a corresponding message about the data appears.
We hope to make route planning a little more precise, but we would like to point out that such calculated routes should not be used as the sole means of navigation.
Do you have any questions or suggestions about this feature? Please send us an email to [email protected].
